1988 - 2022

​Coach McPherson is a graduate of Lubbock High School. He attended both Hardin Simmons University and Texas Tech University where he earned a Masters degree in Education while playing baseball as a pitcher and catcher.

Coach McPherson is the Head Coach of Katy’s Baseball program and has been at Katy High School since 1988. During the 2019 season, Coach McPherson recorded his 800th career coaching victory. Prior to coming to Katy High School, he had coaching stops with Texas Tech University, Hardin Simmons University, Canyon High School, Levelland High School and Johnson City High School.

His favorite memory is leading the Katy Tigers into the 2006 Baseball State Championship in Round Rock against The Woodlands (who were ranked #1 in the Nation).  

​Coach McPherson is married to his wife Joan and they have 5 children, Brent, Travis, Kristen, Cody and Justin – and Coach loves spending time with his beautiful grandchildren Camryn, Caelan, Jace, Lilly, and Reagan.
